The strength of South Mary Lake Contracting, however, is in the actual workers. In these days of decreasing quality and poor workmanship, your team excelled beyond expectations. Norm, your stone mason, created masterpieces for our fireplace and stone pillars from stones that were picked up from along our shoreline. The timber framing from Timmerman was exquisite. Their ability to use mortise and tenon joints (with no nails or mechanical parts) to essentially create art in our ceiling was stunning. After trying to use another kitchen person (and discovering that they were just not up to our expectations) and then using Josh, your recommended person, we were left with a functional and great looking kitchen that will be a meeting place for decades to come. Finally, I would be remise if I did not thank Phil, the on-site supervisor. He was able to organize, motivate, and inspire your other trades personnel to do the majority of the actual work. Everyone we met and interacted with was a gentleman and a skilled craftsperson – a unique combination in my experience. When we started this project, all of my friends told me to anticipate that the budget would go up by fifty percent and that it would not be finished for months after the promised time. Given that you could not start for about six weeks after the anticipated time due to Hydro issues (which were not your fault), I was shocked that you finished on the exact date that was originally promised. The budget only increased by those few items that I added (generator, better heat pump etc). Other than that, the cost was essentially as predicted. “On time and on budget” – these are rare words in the context of any construction and in particular the construction of cottages where unpredicted events can easily occur. You have created an outstanding home which exceeds our expectations and which is a testimony to your skill as builders.
